Narkina 5 Prison Complex cross-section illustration was made for the new edition of the Star Wars: Complete Locations book published by DK PUBLISHING.
Narkina 5 is a remote moon utilized by the Empire as a forced labor camp. Its factories harbor convicts deemed capable of physical work. Under the watchful gaze of a few Imperial guards, inmates work 12-hour shifts building machinery.
New prisoners are brought in by shuttles.
Once they have been given white and orange robes, the prisoners are immediately sent to the assembly area to work.
Around 5,000 convicts work at any given factory, but the Narkina 5 factories employ an operation that gives prisoners an illusory sense of control. This includes inmates working as “day shift managers” in charge of their work floor.
Products put together in the assembly area go up to the product packaging centre by elevators. There, the products are packed into containers and transported away by Zeta-class shuttles.
Work at the factory continues non-stop in two shifts. Whilst one shift is working, the other rests in the dormitories located in the outer ring of the complex.
